Heart Failure

The term Heart Failure sounds pretty frightening, but don’t worry
Heart Failure means that the heart is not working as well as it should therefore it’s not able to keep up with its workload, so it gets very tired. It does not mean your heart is dead or dying, but that it is not working as well as it could

The main symptoms are

  • Shortness of breath when you are doing normal everyday activities or at rest
  • Fatigue (being unusually tired and weak)
  • Swelling of feet ankles or tummy

These symptoms can also be caused by other medical conditions, so in most cases further tests will be required to confirm a diagnosis of heart failure.
There are many reasons why you may be diagnosed with heart failure and sometimes we just don’t know what the cause is and this can be hard to accept, but the most important thing is managing your symptoms and then you can prevent them from getting worse and absolutely ensure you have the best possible quality of life
